Susan earned her Master's Degree from Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois in Chicago.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  She maintains membership in the National Association for Play Therapists.  She is near completion of her Play Therapy Certification credential and is particularity skilled in the provision of play therapy, art therapy, sand tray therapy, and parenting education.  She is well liked by children for her wit, good humor, creativity and nurturing and generous spirit.

Susan believes in empowerment and uses a holistic, person-in-environment approach in her work.  Susan believes that all individuals and their situations are unique and that each person holds the answers inside themselves. She uses a client centered approach and often incorporates cognitive behavioral therapy techniques with her clients.  "The therapeutic relationship is very important.  People learn who they are from being in relationships."

Susan has a love for learning and is constantly expanding her professional knowledge and expertise through reading, research and through continuing education attendance.

Susan also enjoys incorporating arts and craft ideas into her work with children.  She spreads joy wherever she goes as she can be silly, likes to decorate our offices or leave us funny surprises.  She is quick to laugh and is really good at sharing!

Susan is now happily retired.  We are so grateful to Susan for her outstanding commitment to all of the children and families that she has counseled over the years!
