VICTIM SERVICES

NWTCA was founded in 1997 with a dedication to making the world a safer place by specializing in the treatment of sexual  abuse.  We provide a comprehensive range of clinical  treatment services for all persons affected by sexual abuse and child maltreatment and trauma.  NWTCA  provides legal advocacy and support as needed.  We maintain regular contact with other involved professionals for case coordination using a multi-disciplinary approach.

NWTCA therapists conduct sexual abuse trauma assessments to determine the impact of the traumatic injury, it's origins and diagnostic implications for treatment.

Additionally, we have a staff therapist who is certified to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) as an adjunct to talk therapy to decrease symptoms of trauma and PTSD.

NWTCA maintains contracts with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services as well as numerous foster care agencies in keeping with our commitment to preventing child abuse and helping maltreated children with healing and recovery.   NWTCA partners child welfare investigators, and case managers to ensure that abused children have therapy, advocacy, and support from investigation through prosecution.

NWTCA therapists have extensive experience working with children with sexual behavior problems. Sexually victimized children may attempt to gain mastery and control over their abuse experience by acting out sexually with other children.  NWTCA therapists assess the severity and nature of the problem to determine if the behavior is sexually reactive, problematic, or if it rises to the level of sexual aggression. We then provide treatment according to the assessed need, and we work with the child and family to ensure that safety planning is addressed and protective measures are taken if needed.
